What will the March 18 SKY Program Workshop cover? The workshop on March 18 is designed to expose young people already interested in aviation to more hands-on information and opportunities, including a general overview of the SKY Program. Youth participating in the workshop may be encouraged to submit an application to the SKY Program.

Who should attend? Youth ages 14-18 who are interested in aviation and wish to expand their knowledge and meet other young people who share their love of all things aeronautic. One parent/guardian should attend for each youth participant.

Can we drop in, leave early, or drop our young person at the event? The March 18 Workshop is a full program from 9AM until 1PM. Youth participants, and their adults, should plan on being present during the entire program. Parents/guardians should not plan on leaving their young person at the event unattended. One parent/ guardian per family please.

Is lunch provided? Yes! The $10 registration fee covers one lunch for one person. If you or your young person has dietary restrictions, please let us know. Youthavpro@gmail.com

What should we bring? Curiosity and interest in aviation plus a readiness to learn are the main requirements. We ask that all participants bring a copy of the Participant Handbook (either printed from this download or saved and accessible digital copy). For your own comfort, you may want to bring a water bottle in case you get thirsty before lunch.

What should we wear? Appropriate dress is clothing that is comfortable and able to handle the weather/temperatures of the day. Close-toed shoes are important. Do not wear dangling necklaces, bracelets, or earrings, or expensive attire. This is a day to be casual and push up your sleeves. Our youth participants tend to wear jeans, t-shirts, hoodies, sneakers, etc. So do our adult volunteers!

Are there bathrooms? Yes. Pleasant and clean bathroom facilities are located in the main clubhouse and will be available for all participants.

What happens in the event of bad weather? Good news! This is a rain or shine event. The SKY Program is fortunate to have indoor and outdoor space, so we will be capping the number of participants to the capacity of our indoor space (just in case it rains). Regardless, please remember to dress appropriately for the weather and activities.

I’d like to know more about the SKY Program? The SKY Program is a non-profit 501c3 committed to teaching youth aviation skills and teamwork to create the next generation of aviators. Our organization was born in 2019 through the vision of pilot Jesse Katz and his desire to provide opportunities to middle and high school aged youth interested in aviation. Since that time, the organization has held weekly work sessions throughout the entire year, rebuilt an entire airplane (that they now fly!), grown community, and expanded its numbers to a broader circle of volunteers and young people with aims for increased programming and opportunities. The best way to learn more is to join us on March 18!
